I have been using "Blend-Fil" pencils to fix imperfections, they are color wax pencils that come in many colors. Just draw the pencil over scratch, etc, and gently rub with a clean soft cloth and surface may not be perfect but it looks better then it did and the wax won't hurt the furniture!
